While field testing our new advanced composite orthotics we have had a difficult time getting good pedometer readings on rugged trails with high inclines (4-10 percent grades).
We have tried many types of pedometers some bought at Sports Authority and some free ones we received from the California College of Podiatric Medicine at the last American Podiatric Medical Association National Convention held here in Hawaii.
The pedometers are under reading the foot strikes. Perhaps because of a reduction of impact force to trigger the meter?
1. Are there any recommended high quality scientific pedometers on the market?
2. Are there any recommended locations to place the meters?
