Default Radiofrequency microtenotomy

Podiatry Arena members do not see these ads
Have just seen a patient who has had radiofrequency microtenotomy for chronic plantar fasciitis , it is a new one on me , am going to have a search to see what it is just thought I ask the great and the good the pros and cons

It's an RF technique. Basically you diagram a grid on the plantar aspect of the os calcis. Most use 4X4 so obviously you have 16 "dots" on the bottom of the heel. A K wire (.62) or similar type probe is then used to puncture each DOT down to the os calcis. The RF is then placed in each puncture wound and ablated.

You then wait for the healing process to occur hoping that the trauma induced and subsequent increased blood flow corrects the problem.
