Just to be clear with regard to posts on thatfootsite
Apologies to those of you who have had the good fortune to have never visited the unmoderated forum `thatfootsite`, please ignore the rest of this post.
Just to reiterate; I will not enter into any further dialogue on thatfootsite and have not since my final post on 28th May 2012 at 13.34. Any posts made by `belinda` after that time were not written by me.
Cheers,
Bel
BTW Bob, I am happy to discuss the issues you raised on cell-mediated HPV immunity here, or if you really don`t like `the club` being privy to the discussion you can email me as you have done so in the past.

Belinda,
I would not agree that Thatfootsite is "unmoderated", as the owner, if requested, is always willing to remove any posts that are "inappropriate".
Perhaps this type of light-touch moderation is not to your liking ?
regards
Catfoot

Again, I apologise for cluttering this respected forum with such drivel. However, I have been asked to clarify something;
The "inappropriate posts", or disparaging comments as some would say, about me have not been removed because the site owner has been instructed not to, as they are currently under investigation.
It is no longer a case of whether it is my liking, it is now in the hands of the hpc to decide whether it is another case of disparaging comments on a website forum. Rest assured, if you did not post any of the disparaging remarks then you have no need to be concerned.
"Political Correctness" is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end

That is an interesting article, especially these parts ,
Quote:
The Defamation Bill, which will be debated in the Commons, will also see would-be claimants having to show they have suffered serious harm to their reputations, or are likely to do so, before they can take a defamation case forward.
Quote:
The Bill will also replace the common law defences of justification and honest comment with new statutory defences of truth and honest opinion.

Quite correct Del.
The recent Facebook case made history in the UK. I quote "in the first ruling of its kind the social networking site was ordered by the High Court in London to hand over details...".
(my emphasis - source: page 5, Sat Telegraph June 9th 2012).
Can you see which way the wind is blowing?
It is interesting to note that according to the report the victim in the Facebook case is not relying on the Crown Prosecution Service, but is pursuing a private prosecution - against individuals, not FB. As reported FB have been very cooperative with lawyers acting for the victim. We do not know if the CPS will take action at this time.
Of course this has no real bearing on the unmoderated forum in the discussion above.
Since that matter is ongoing it would be unwise to make any comment, save the obvious - Bel you have my full support.

I dropped onto that footsite the other day and amazingly was still surprised by the ill informed, idiotic T*%ts that are allowed to make comments - if my company had any involvement with the site eg sponsorship, we would withdraw immediately.
The site is an embarrassment to our profession and I totally support any action you take - don't let the ba%&^rds drag you down!!

Re: Just to be clear with regard to posts on thatfootsite
As David says, this is not really an issue of defamation. However I am still amazed at the level of callow spite and name calling which is STILL going on over there. Robust disagreement is one thing. Personal attacks are quite another.
As Bel has said, the matter now rests with the HPC. Clearly anonymous forum postings are not so anonymous as people have in the past believed. That being the case, you'd imagine that people would be a little more cautious about what they write. That message has obviously not yet sunk in.
There is some truth to the idea that one should not say anything behind someones back that one would not say in public. Those who use the option of anonymity to abuse a colleague should be ashamed of themselves, and I have little sympathy for any consequences they suffer as a result of their spite. It is a most cowardly and underhanded way to behave and whilst the law will / should not becoming involved, the professional bodies to which people belong most certainly should.
The ultimate Irony for me is that the Hot issue on TFS has always been the unregulated sector. If those who have behaved so inappropriately on there are Podiatrists then they let down not only themselves but all of us, and give lie to their strident claims of "professional superiority".

Bel:
Sounds like a circumstance that is, unfortunately, part of many internet forums these days.
However, I want you to know..... that as far as I'm concerned....you are not only "sick" but also "sassy".....very much looking forward to seeing you again next week....

There is a world of difference between a lightly moderated forum, and an unmoderated forum which relies on members to warn about any dodgy posts so that they can be pulled ahead of any possible action being taken.
