Default Podiatry in Taekwondo

Hey guys,

I did a quick search and didn't come up with anything much on podiatry in taekwondo. I train in it very often and compete as well... Now since its a martial art...there's obviously quite a lot of injuries but the competition, sports (olympic) aspect of taekwondo places all emphasis on kicking and footwork...so the feet get quite a pounding.

Anyway, I was wondering if any there has been any research into the biomechanics of taekwondo, possible applications of orthotic devices, training shoes and injury prevention/rehabilitation...

I've been searching through my uni library and their subscriptions to other databases but can't seem to find anything related to what I'm looking for. Actually about the only thing I found was the article on the IPJ injury by some Korean authors but that was also on this forum to xD

I am sure Evelyn Weir from Edinburgh has written something on foot injuries in Martial Arts which appeared in the UK journals.

that's great, though I found his page (http://www.qmu.ac.uk/pod/Staff%2...lyn%20Weir.htm) and its actually karate...still though could be useful...trouble is the link doesnt work.

There is an upside however, i chucked it into google scholar and found out this one!
http://www.northampton.ac.uk/downloa...rlesSayegh.pdf

which is like directly to taekwondo...which is great

but i was also looking in to things like how bounding continuously for half an hour on the balls of your feet was involved in arch pain in people (like plantar fasciitis)
