There is nothing in the podiatry literature to the best lof my knowledge. The properties of bases such as alcohol are taken from the pharmacy texts like Martindale, National Formulary or British Pharmacopoeia etc. Many podiatry text of the past would include reference to use of medications (therapeutics) which tried to contexturalise the use of 'popular' pharmacy e.g. Le Rossignol and Holliday A pharmacopoeia for chiropodists or Read's An intorduction to therapeutics for chiropodists. The more recent text of Pharmacology for Podiatrists by Johnson and Morgan pays scant attention to the subject.
