I get in a lot of social media debates on many topic that involve pseudoscience; often it does not matter how many facts and research end evidence you present, it does not work.

Even in the barefoot/minimalism debates, it the same... they end up alleging a conspiracy from "podiatrists" (which is just not true) or the running shoe companies.

Was just reading this study on Anti-vax debate and how they degenerate into debates about conspiracies.

Even though it was ant-vaz views, I could probably be extrapolated to other pseudoscience views

  3. You can make the same comparison with the 9/11 debate, where it also doesn't matter how many facts and research and evidence you present, the pseudoscience behind the 'anti-truthers' position usually degenerates into debates about conspiracies!

Can you imagine the reaction if all the health authorities suddenly adopted the barefoot philosophy and started advising the public that barefoot was preferable to shod feet in children and adults - and that the arguments by some notable podiatrists were simply conjecture and without foundation?

"We believe the truth is what we want it to be" has never held greater currency.
