  16. They put parents in jail for performing acts of bodily harm to their children. However, we allow obesity to continue occurring in children at an alarming rate......and with no consequences for the parents???

At least he wont have to strain his eyes with the TV that close, we dont want them making an effort of any kind.

You would love a series of TV commercials running currently here in OZ, they feature doctors asking people to think of them next time "you" want to eat healthy.
"How am l going to afford my holiday if your healthy?...Think of me before you eat that apple"

Maybe some person a bit more tech than l can put a link up for you?

In April I had a patient I've treated on and off be told she may be a type II diabetic. I've always known her to be an otherwise healthy person, works out, claimed to eat well etc.. She was despondent to say the least.

After going over her diet with her, I found that she was ingesting much more sugar she realized by choosing supposedly healthy foods. I had two other patients confess the same suspicions by their physician that month.

I had gained a little weight myself so I challenged them to follow a nutritional plan prior to taking their A1C tests and I would also follow the plan. I lost 15 pounds myself in May and two of the women lost ten and one 6 pounds. Simply by removing any unnecessary sugar and severely limiting high glycemic carbs. One is strictly paleo now, no dairy or grains, the rest of us have modified the type of grains and dairy that we eat. Reading and understanding labels is key, as is simply adding more fresh vegetables than you think you can possibly consume.

The results are noteworthy. I've even gotten two to exercise more regularly through example.

The bottom line is the USDA food pyramid has failed and allowed big food to push fast and processed foods loaded with high-glycemic sugars, too much fat, sodium and IMO even worse GMO food into our food supply. The outcome we are witnessing in practice every day.

When we were kids we played outside and sports were the highlight. Now along with the poorly nutritive foods being so available, kids simply do not spend enough time outdoors and playing and the double-crush is resulting in childhood onset of type II diabetes, obesity etc.

Your first personal responsibility is to your children.

    Food for thought,
