Excellent independent research on school shoes from QUT. www.shoereview.com.au

I cringe at the $7 back to school shoe currently being advertised. Minimum standards should be mandatory, particularly for kids footwear.

The most frequently asked question asked by the consumer is "will they last all year?"

Nice review of a shoe fresh out of a box, great marketing tool, but it is not a reflection of how that shoe will preform over the next 3 months, 6 months or even 12 months of wear.

Children do not stand still long, if the shoes were first tested as in this report then, for example, flexed 150,000 times and then re tested this would be a great report.

It is about the durability and reliability of the product and its materials in wear that concerns most consumers and manufactures.

Maybe the writers could even send out product on the feet of clients for 6 months and invite them back in for retesting of a complete pair.

Sole "bond" would have been nice to add to the report.

Were any manufactures or even retailers ever consulted as to what should be tested for? they are the ones at the front line dealing with sales and returns
