    It seems clear non op treatment with early mobilization is as good as surgery with fewer complications. The difficulty arises in the patient that is 10 - 14 days down the track and not immobilized in plantarflexion. Can we be sure the ends will oppose when the foot is placed in plantarflexion? Is ultrasound accurate in determining this ? Will it matter anyway?
    Final strength is not determined by initial treatment except if the ends are left apart and the tendon heals "Long". Claims of increased strength due to surgery have been shown to be false.
