After some ideas please. 8yo boy, inversion ankle sprain 6/52 ago. X-rays are clear. Partial tear to ATFL detected on ultrasound. Persistent posterior impingement, reduced plantarflexion. Posterior calf inhibition. FHL activation.
Management so far: Was iced, compression sleeve, taped, not enough rest initially. Mobilised. NSAIDs but not until 4/52 but did further settle symptoms. Proprioception exercises. Attempting activities now but limited due to lack of plantarflexion. Consulted Physio and Podiatrist, not how a typical ankle sprain behaves and after some ideas of what else could be going on, what could be tried to mobilise this ankle further?
