I have been using WP ointment very succcessfully on neurovascular corns, mainly plantar, for 30 years with no ill effects. I have heard the claim that pyrogallol is carcinogenic a number of times (along with gentian violet and just about everything else in the world) I cannot find the definitive research for this. Can anyone enlighten me please?

I draw your attention to a new paper on gentian violet, by Maley and Arbiser, ncbi.nlm.nih.gov, named" 19th c drug re-emerges in 21st c"
    Especially page 24 of 54.
Gentian Violet's stained reputation is restored!
I have always maintained that it a wonderful drug, especially on interdigital maceration, soft corns, and ulceration.
    Please discuss!

Welcome Elizabeth! Great question! 50% of we know to be true is often proved not to be so, then years later it is all reversed again!
    Gotta love research!
Thanks for the replies! I will check out the info!

I have not used dyes in years simply because I found it too difficult to see what is happening underneath it.

This is a great post to add to the general discussion forum.

    Cheers
