Spasm of the extensor digitorium?
Hi, please could someone help?
19 YO female with bilateral hammer toes (2nd) with some restriction into extension. She experiences locking of the PIPJ in a hyperextended position with pain and some abduction of the 2nd toes & left 3 PIPJ. she has to manually flex the joints but sometimes it takes up to 45 minutes before the joint goes back to "normal" . There is no pattern when this occurs, no medication, no familial history of neurological conditions.
Footwear: ballet pumps
Muscle strenght unremarcable, pain free during examination.
Gait: prolonged pronation, medially deviated STJ, no hyperextension of the digitorium longus/ brevis noticed during gait analysis.
diet: normal, with plenty fruit intake
Any idea why this young girl is getting these symptoms?
I would appreciate some help. Thanks
Rosa
