    I am going to type this really slowly:

    There are no proprioceptive nerve endings in the sole of the foot!


    I can't get the full text for a few days, but will get an image of what they think "insoles with proprioceptive mechanism" actually are and find out how they actually think they can affect "proprioception" given there are no proprioceptive sensors in the sole of the foot!

    They will be "textured" insoles, I guess. But these papers still get published with these titles.:confused:

    Just spotted this gem:
    "Conclusions: Construction of orthoses could have an effect on plantar pressure distribution in flatfeet." - you don't say? Serious question: has there ever been a study published in which foot orthoses did not have an effect on plantar pressure distribution? Seriously: ever? Ever, ever?

    Finally got the full paper ... very bizarre

    They used a fairly typical prefab/OTC device and recorded plantar pressure - of course there was some weightbearing in the arch with these devices
    The 'proprioceptive' orthotics were Rothbarts PCI’s (!@#$%^&!) which just jams up the first ray and first MPJ -- not surprisingly all the load went there and they recorded reduced weightbearing in the arch compared to the other device.... somehow they managed to conclude that this was evidence of the proprioceptive effect working …. Duh? If you place a big lump under the first MPJ, then of course there will be less pressure in the arch!! That’s called a MECHANICAL effect and is NOT evidence of proprioception!
