All,
I heard yesterday that the the Society has been e-mailing all its members informing them that a small number of HPC registrants have only just received their audit papers.
The HPC might consider an extension for completion. How gracious of them.
To make matters worse these registrants have been able to renew their registration which should mean they have not been selected for audit.
Yet another HPC blunder, big time. What do we pay our money for?
Has anyone here had a late request for audit?
regards
Catfoot

I followed the TV spoof '2012' (on the preparation for the Olympics) with great pleasure. The uncanny thing (or perhaps not uncanny if the writer had a 'mole') was that the most outrageous scenarios were followed the very next day with a genuine occurrence - talk about truth stranger than fiction. Mark Russell has published his 'Festive Fules' here, perhaps he might be persuaded to do a similar 'HPC Deliverance'?

Can we not just abandon the HPC and set up our own board? The Scots have their own Parliament and the Welsh have their own Assembly, so why not let the Podiatrists have their own say on exactly how they wish to be regulated. It is surely just and within our human rights. I think we could do a better job than the HPC at reassuring the public that we would keep them as safe from harm. The HPC is problematic and takes cash from our pockets without giving us a proper say as to whether it should be reformed, or completely abandoned. Is it really fit for practice? I personally think not. If I am in the minority then I will just have to shut up and pay up. If I am not, however, then surely something needs to be done in the interests of long-term professional development?
I noticed that my new registration certificate had hcpc printed on it and thought it was some sort of fake or joke. They have changed their name to the health care professions council without any (as far as I have noticed) consultation. This takes effect from 1st August 2012.
We managed to educate our pts to look for HPC reg pods now we have to do it all over again. Why did they do this and why couldn't they have made health care all one word so that the acronym could stay the same???
Hmmmnnn. Yes, we do pay a lot of money for naff all it seems. I wouldn't mind so much if it seemed to actually seemingly be of some worth which I feel it isn't. not even remotely

The change from HPC to HCPC is because they now register social workers, who previously came under the ? General Social Work Council registration scheme. It required legislative change and has been on the HPC website for some time.
So now it is Health & CARE Professions Council
Having only just qualified, I had a HPC certificate arrive on saturday the 28th July 2012 that expired on the 31st July 2012. Today in the post I have a new certificate valid till 2014 with HCPC lol

I have been audited and could not send my evidence in as it had to be all under 10 mega bytes. They suggested I sent in multiple emails but still I struggled with 10 mb as most the evidence were certificates so I sent it in sky drive form but they were not happy with this either so I ended up photocopying my evidence and sending it in the post. I phoned to explain what was happening and they said they had received numerous complaints about the 10 mega byte limit.
The operator who I spoke to said it would be added to the list of people that had already complained about it and hopefully it will be ironed out for the next audit process. He sounded exasperated to be honest.
