Hello everyone. I have been reading posts with great interest for a while now and thought it would be nice to join you all. I am currently studying at University of Southampton (UK) and will be starting my second year next week!

Wendy:

Welcome to Podiatry Arena. Once you get rolling into your second year, you and your fellow students at University of Southampton should try to come up with questions you feel comfortable asking on this forum. Then you can get answers to your questions from podiatrists from many parts of the world.

I just wish that I had such a splendid opportunity for education when I was a second year podiatry student 25 years ago!

I am curious; what is Podiatric Medicine like in the UK? Do they have surgical privileges at many hospitals? Are they able to do rearfoot procedures? Do Chiropodists and Podiatrists co-exist? Do they have different levels of education?

Any thoughts are appreciated. In advance, my thanks.

Hi Sandra
Year 2 is a huge leap from yr1 here as well...assignments as well as presentations. Not as many exams but are twice as long instead! Am looking forward to placements though.
Good luck
Wendy

Kevin
I am sorry I have not replied to your encouragement earlier, just to say thank you and will bear in mind the offer from the online community when I have questions not easily answered.
