Default Working in canada

For working in Canada as a podiatrist, first, you have to pass a provioncial board exam. When you have a permit, you can think about to move to Canada for working.

As podiatrist, you can work at sport center or you can have your own podiatric clinic. Until now, i don't see yet any podiatrist working in hospital...

Hoperly i answer to you concern.

From my limited understanding of the Canada system, if you are UK state registered, you can only work in Ontario as Chiropodist. In other states you need the US DPM qualification ... I think...

Check here:
Canadian Podiatric Medical Association
College of Chiropodists of Ontario
Alberta Podiatry Association
Ontario Podiatric Medical Association
Ontario Society of Chiropodists
College of Podiatrists of Manitoba
British Colombia Association of Podiatrists

There is also The Canadian Federation of Foot Specialists, but their website does not look ready yet .... will post it later (they do appear to represent both Chiropodists and Podiatrists, but I'm sure there is some politics involved)

Canadas legislation is different in every province. Whilst frustrating, this is how it evolved and remains. Some provinces accept DPM's, BSc in podiatry and DCh. Some will only accept one category. Work and diplomacy is working hard behind the scenes to unify the profession and get beyond the turf wars and let each practioner work to their full scope of practice on all Canadians.

I am in Manitoba. This province is a member of the Canadian Podiatry Association has had a DPM and welcomes any though none practice here at present, has a DCh and British grads. There is no exam except under exceptional circumstances ( ie have not worked as a podiatrist for a year or so). The applicant must have graduated from an educationally accredited course.

You must have a work permit or landed immigrant status or citizenship to work in Canada. I would suggest you contact the colleges or appropriate liscencing bodies if you are interested in working over here. There is a web site put out by Canadian immigration about podiatry. I do not know the address but if you contact the Registrar of the college of podiatrists of Manitoba ( 204 942 3256 ) or possibly any registrar of any province, they will be able to help you.

Hi, I'm new to this..don't know if I am on the right forum. I would love to know how easy it is to get employment in Canada, especially in Ontario or Windsor. I am studying on a BSc Podiatry degree programme in England and would love to move out to Canada.
Any advice appreciated.
