Post Podiatry Board Exams

Podiatry Arena members do not see these ads
Hi everyone,
I am a second year podiatry school student and I will be taking my step 1 boards soon. I am really concerned because there seems to be no prep or study materials similar to USMLE. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to study or any aids they found helpful? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

Podgirl,

I used First Aid for the USMLE Part I as my primary resource. I found it to be a suitable review; however, I did supplement it with my lower limb anatomy notes, Medical Microbiology Made Rediculously Easy, and Kaplan's Qbank.

First Aid presents material in a subject by subject basis (histo, biochem, gross, etc...). If you learn better by the systems approach, you might look at First Step for the USMLE Part I. Many of my classmates used one or the other while a few utilized both.

Kaplan's Qbank is a little on the high side as far as cost, but I thought that it was a nice supplement to my studies. It provided me with a way to monitor my readiness and expose any deficiencies. Qbank is available in different subscription lengths to fit your budget and need. I think they offer a sample at Kaplan.com. Check it out. I think I paid $150 for one month. I didn't think it was too bad an investment compared to the alternative of retaking Part I for $900!

I hope that this is helpful.
