Press Release:
Chiropodists and Podiatrists support Labour Mobility in Canada!
Quote:
The Canadian Federation of Podiatric Medicine says the labour mobility agreement is a perfect fit for the profession of chiropody and podiatry in Canada.
"Foot care is an integral part of healthcare," says Stephen Hartman, CEO of the Canadian Federation of Podiatric Medicine. "The agreement will allow qualified individuals that have been trained in Canada and beyond, to move to areas of the country that are in desperate need of foot specialists, currently restricted by provincial regulation."
According to Hartman, "Foot disorders are treated the same in every province and it is unfortunate that provincial barriers have restricted those individuals in need of care to be limited to where and by whom they can be treated."
With the aging population and diabetes epidemic in Canada the need for footcare from a regulated chiropodist or podiatrist is increasing exponentially. "Because there are only two schools that train chiropodists and podiatrists in Canada, in Ontario and Quebec, reciprocity is vital to allow graduates to work in all provinces," adds Hartman.
With all provinces moving in the same direction with respect to labour mobility, Canadians across the country will benefit greatly by these efficiencies.

The CFPM represents chiropodists and podiatrists from across Canada in the provinces of British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
