Nic Sprenger has withdrawn from the national trials (Australia) and will miss the Commwealth Games in order to recover form illness.

Reported in the Australian, today

http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au...5E2722,00.html

I am sure you will join with me and wish the lad a speedy recovery.

Many years ago I was privilaged to have a student in the class called Elaine Grey (Dobbin) who became the 16th fastest lady swimmer at the Canadian Commonwealth Games back in the 70s. She had few training advantages then and would start swimming early in the morning before coming to classes. I doubt whether she ever missed a lesson , so devoted she was to her sport and profession. A lesson to us all. Dobbin would occassionally tell stories of her experiences at the Games and I was always amused at the antics of competitors who would deliberately avoid the antiseptic footbaths in the hope of passing on viruses to other swimmers in the opposite camp.
