A 41 yr old woman with (melanoma of the foot and advanced breast cancer) has had a biopsy of sole of the left foot done 3 weeks ago ; the biopsy site is still open and has not healed. Polysporin has been used and there has been no trauma to the foot. Further surgery is needed in early February for a primary excision of an early stage Melanoma uncovered. Quicker healing would allow for a smaller surgery which would be helpful since it would enable her to return to her chemotherapy for breast cancer sooner. Any suggestions to help the healing process would be greatly appreciated.
I think a more healed biopsy site does not in any way guarantee "smaller" surgery for the primary tumour excision. I think it will pale into insignificance. I wouldnt be surprised if there is much of a foot left left by the sounds of things. The primary excision will be a MUCH wider excision, depending on the extent of metatstatic change.
