ABC are reporting:
Ad campaign to promote health professions
Quote:
The Tasmanian Government will spend $160,000 on a campaign it hopes will keep more health professionals working in the public system.

The four-week television advertising campaign will begin this weekend and will promote jobs such as nursing, dentistry, allied health and ambulance work.

The secretary of the Health Department, Dr Martyn Forrest, hopes the ads will address the Department's high turnover rate by celebrating the work done in the public system.

He says it is also a way of lifting morale.

"Everybody likes to be told they are doing a good job," he said.

"Often under pressure of the day-to-day services people get criticised and I think it's important that if we're to strengthen the services through the Health and Human Services Department we have got to visibly show that we recognise and celebrate the quality of our staff."

A working group will also be established to review the way the Department deals with recruitment and retention.
