The Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) will cut an estimated 125 positions and trim back services as it attempts it get hold of a projected $8 million operating deficit....As a result of the cutting of full- and part-time positions, he explained the 125 positions will actually translate into more than 125 people being cut loose from the hospital's current 1,960 workforce.

Along with trimming away staff, the plan also calls for cuts to services. Services being cut include EEG, EMG and electro diagnostic outpatient services; urodynamics; chiropody; and the dental surgery program.
As well, the women's health clinic will have all services cut except for unplanned pregnancy and colposcopy programs, and sexual assault, domestic violence and eating disorder services.
While the vast majority of the plan will be put into action immediately, service cuts can't go ahead until the Province gives approval. That plan should be before the ministry by Dec. 1. The ministry will have 60 days to respond.
