Podiatry Arena members do not see these ads

Dear Netizens,
1.Just wondering if any colleagues from these Countries (Denmark/Belgium/Austria) were active on podiatry-arena?

We hear so much about the U.S/U.K/Australia etc...let's hear from Foot Physicians in Europe!

2.Dear Syd, I know you'll have insight into the state of practice therein...or put me in touch with colleagues thereabouts...Yes I still wear "patent" shoes,white collar,gold tie pin (all that's changed since Curtin is the cost of same! ) but am uninterested in their erotic history!

Julian - I can tell from the IP addresses that we get lots of visitors and have a number of members from contintental Europe, but I assume because English is not their first language, they do not contribute as much. We will soon have an Español subforum.

What are you doing nowadays?

I have not had the pleasure of listening to an educator as expert/interesting/world-wise( or verbose!) since leaving W.A, if you aren't working in Podiatric education, the profession is worse off for the loss!

Back in the big brown land. Was over in the U.K. but fell fowl of an awful employer and came back to the sun. No jobs in teaching in WA so fill my time working for a living. Have a book to write but with age comes, sloth

Just as an aside, a recent EU "Eurobarometer" survey discovered that whilst these countries do not speak English, the follwowing spoke conversational English...
Netherlands 87%
Denmark 86%
Belgium 59%
Austria 58%

It somewhat puts us English-speakers to shame!
Nontheless, I encourage more Europeans to contribute , don't worry your written English is probably better than ours!

For what it is worth from one podiatrist- Belgium is visiting the podiatry-arena. But i think you certainly have a point about the language barriere. Although English is our 3rd language after Dutch and French (maybe for some German) most of the podiatrists in Belgium are able to - at least - read what is going on around here. I am trying to stimulate my students to come here more often and browse around in the several subjects.
But then there is this big gap between the academia and the people who run foorclinics every day "and don't have time" to come here and read from time to time. The last year students often ask me where they can stay more or less in touch with the latest developements in the world of podiatry - and by now they probably already know my answer...:)
That is for the reading part - picking in - and participating on the different threads is something else... but you have to start once
