Hi there:
To my surprise, I have been reading a lot of wrong information about the presence of podiatrist in Saudi and about practicing this great profession here.
Let me let that most of the people I read are misinformed.
Saudi Arabia recognised and registered DPM in 2002 and the degree is treated "similar" to the MD and the DPM can legally practice medicine in the foot and ankle "only". This work was done by Dr. Algannas in Riyadh with the Saudi Health Commission, and then I continued the work with the Ministry of Health. To date, I am the only "legally" and licensed podiatric surgeon working in the MOH system and serving the public. Dr. Algannas is working for the National Guard who has their own system.
I have been fortunate to help a lot of Saudi MD holders and other students to apply to Barry University in Miami to study podiatry, one is in the third year and a few more are starting this year. We need podiatrists in this country and the opportunities are plenty. If anyone needs any more info, I will be more than happy to help. I had posted a requets for a podiatrist to join my practice in Jeddah which I have had for almost 7 years, and its been very rewarding.
