Podiatry Arena members do not see these ads

Hello I am currently in my 2nd year of podiatry school down in the USA. I have heard from a couple DPM's in Canada that doing a 2 year residency is a wiser than doing a 3 year residency as the rearfoot surgery is not that lucrative in canada. Im looking to work in either alberta or BC and would just like some opinions from DPM's in the area whether i should do a 2 or 3 yr residency. Also if anyone has any
info on the Vancouver residency i would appreciate that. Thanks

It's not that lucrative here in the USA either!!!!!! haha

My take on this is easy. You have pretty much ONE chance to do a residency program. Once you are in Private practice, except for a possible fellowship and various workshops, your basic training is over. You may never get another opportunity to learn rear foot surgery.

I would do the third year and be grateful for the education and training you will receive. Trust me when I say that the year will go by quickly and you will not regret it.

More knowledge and training is never a bad thing.
