The Indy Channel are reporting: Motorcyclist Crashes With Deer On Runway, Dies
Quote:
A deer collided with a motorcycle on an airport runway, killing the rider who was checking the runway's lights, officials said.
Dr. Ranford K. Hall, 55, a Bedford podiatrist and a pilot, was riding a motorcycle on the 4,500-foot runway at the Virgil I. Grissom Municipal Airport Tuesday night, authorities said.
"I was in the hangar working on his airplane, and he went out to check the lights for me," airport manager Steve Cummings said. "He didn't return, so I went to check on him."
Lawrence County Police Department Chief Deputy Mike Terry said Hall was on his way back from checking the lights when a deer ran into his path.
Hall was wearing a full-face helmet. The cycle and deer hit, sending the bike off the west edge of the runway into a field, police said.
Hall died of head injuries, a coroner's report said.
