How does everyone keep on top of the current trainer situation?
I tend to log on to Runnersworld.co.uk. but this is a bit laborious......does anyone know of any sites that provide ready to use info about trainers and is regularly updated?

I've found the best way is to go into running shops and talk to the staff. I guess I'm lucky as I work very closely with the running community here and especially the running shop owners. So now I get to meet the reps. from the shoe companies and enjoy probing through their sales pitch.
Alternatively try the sites of the various brands.

I periodically buy the running shoe issue of Runners World ... but am always disappointed with the information provided - its good for runners but does not really contain the information I really want .... there is a gap in the market.

As Simon mentions, going into the running store not only educates the podiatrist, but demonstrates that the podiatrist is interested in athletes. This will likely provide many referrals for you over the years.
I do a once a month "free-screening" (2 hrs duration, examine/advise 17 people, people take numbers to see me so that they don't have to wait in line) at the best running shoe store here in Sacramento. I have been doing this for the past 20 years, and routinely now get 1-2 new patients a week from referrals from this store. This is great way to advertise your services for free, get more patients and learn about the newest running shoes. More podiatrists should do this since it is a "win-win" situation for both the podiatrist (more patients) and shoe store (increased credibility).

I do receive a number of referrals from the local shop here, however, they are on a bit of a mission with regards to their 'video gait analysis' service and have been advising patients that I have sent to them that they think foot orthoses are useless and have on occasion recommended MBT's to a neuromuscular patient I sent there (RTA patient) instead of the 'stable' trainers I wanted for her.
Therefore, it has been difficult to get along with them on occasion, despite repeated efforts on both my and the Physios part!
I just wondered whether there were any good comparitive websites that stay up to date.
