I think "shoes" are getting smaller.

Nike especially, I wear TWO sizes bigger in a NIKE than I do for a dress shoe.
Addidas - 1 1/2 size bigger.
New Balance - 1 size bigger.
They just run smaller.

Apparently not much standardization going on here.
I think the athletic shoe manufacturers have realized the MALE customers like believing they have "larger" feet!!!!!!!!!!!

Question Re: Mens' feet are growing bigger

never mind the mens' feet getting bigger, there are plenty of places or catalogues to go to for that, what about the increase in size of womens' and childrens' feet.
a young chap of 11 years visited my clinic the other day (his mum was the patient) and he is already in size 13!!the catalogues i have found may have larger mens shoes but will they stand up to school wear?
i was a size 8 by 11yrs myself and since i've had kids i'm now size 9 if i can find any. the worrying thing to me is that i'm not even that heavy, what do women do who are obese and had large feet before putting on weight?
does anyone know of any good websites or catalogues, besides long tall sally and evans outsize, that have shoes upto size10-11 for women. i would be especially interested if they were also vegetarian, but that is such a long shot i may just have hit the moon :)
thanks for anyones help on this in advance

Hi twinkletoes et al,

Finding shoes for feet outside the range of 'usual' sizes can prove to be a problem. I too have a daughter who takes a size 9 - 9.5 in footwear. Not easy to purchase in most stores. Online does appear to be the best option for choice. Although this too presents problems with fitting & returns etc.

Bespoke footwear may be a consideration. I have included Bill Bird's website as one of the UKs bespoke footwear specialists:

http://www.billbird.co.uk/

Other online searches provided the following. Some in the UK & some in the USA:

http://clothes.shop.ebay.co.uk/items...86Q2ec0Q2em282

http://www.cinderellashoes.ie/searchbysize.html

http://www.bigshoeboutique.co.uk/?cm...FYFA3godYkedFg

http://www.tallgirls.co.uk/womens-la...rge-sizes.html

http://www.bigandbeautifulshoes.com/aboutus.html

Happy hunting.

When footwear companies standardise (English Shoe Size - inches, Paris Point metric, US not the same as UK,) and these sizes do not always equate to what is stamped on the footwear, we will be able to tell our patient what size they require.

The size stamped on a shoe is there so the sales person can match pairs into boxes at the end of the day!
Where is a size stamped on our feet?
You select the shoe that fits, if not, DON'T BUY IT. It is that simple.

The easiest way is to get patient to draw an outline of feet on cardboard and place template into shoe. If the cardboard cutout is not crushed when put into the shoe then that shoe can be purchased. Simple logic - but who said men and women were logical.

New survey from Debenhams suggests male feet are growing bigger, are they proportionate to brain capacity as well. Could it be that the people in the study migrated from one country to another and skewed the study. When Homo-sapians breed the gene pool becomes diverse

Don Scott

All feet can be fitted with footwear - but why?
