Does anyone have any news on the current position regarding Ministerial approval to have the new schedules on the statute books speculated to be probably Oct/Nov this year. Has the criterion for practitioners who presently hold certification in POMs been set for prescribing the new range of medicines? Does anyone know of any pharmaceutical courses that are being run to update Podiatrists/Chiropodists.

    Regards
    Mark C

  2. The new session of parliament has just started and the passage of the Bill should be complete in the next few weeks. Regarding courses, it will depend what you already hold. If you have graduated recently and have a prescribing notation on the register, you should be able to undertake a core update online through the SCP website. If you have no prescribing notation, a range of courses should be announced in the new year once the colleges have geared themselves up for the coursework.

Great news, at long last the podiatrist will be able to supply the essential medication to his or her patient.
One question i need answered, if anyone out there can :D Does anyone know of a good supply chemist for all the medicines we need to buy.
I must tell of a situation I recently came across. I was attempting to purchase some simple hydrocortisone cream for topical application from my local chemist :( You would have thought I was trying to purchase class A adrugs. I produced my HPC membership number, and asked the chemist to look up the HPC sight to confirm my ability to use LAs and buy and supply POMs
After the chemist showed considerable mental pain and turmoil, I decided it was too much trouble and didnt wish to cause any more pain and so decided to attempt to purchase elsewhere :(
