can anyone give me the possible causes of a large, painful,fluid fiiled swelling on the medial side of the knee in an elderly lady. could it be pes anserine bursitis, bakers cyst or just the swelling from osteo arthritis, the swelling is very large and spongy and located just to the medial aspect of the knee extending slightly above and below the joint line and to the posteriot area of the knee, not just the usual diffuse swelling that I have seen in osteoarthritis of the knee.

Just picked up on this. a patient has just presented with swelling and tenderness in the popliteal fossa and I DX Bakers Cyst. however what to do.
I may refer back to GP for O-Pod referral,
but she comes to see me with severe Pes Cavus, but not an overly stiff mid tarsal joint
retreacted toes, and callus under the entire met area although a little less under the 1st and 5th.
I have not done a bio on her yet, but I picked up that she stood with her knees hyperextended.
Would calf and hamstring streching be benficial? to the Bakers cyst, or should I leave it up to the O-Pod.
