Glucosamine

Podiatry Arena members do not see these ads

What are the latest thoughts on Glucosamine?
Does it have a positve effect on the regeneration of cartilage? Or is it's benificial effects down to the placebo effect?
From a forum member with very creaky knees.

Use it to good effect myself.....placebo or not.....don't care....feels better

Something to be aware of when patients are taking glucosamine is interactions with warfarin, as outlined in ARC synovium newsletter october 2007 (http://www.arc.org.uk/about_arth/opu...synovium19.htm)

There have been seven reports of increases in international normalised ratio (INR) in patients who commence glucosamine when anticoagulated.1 Patients on warfarin are advised to avoid taking glucosamine.
