Default Vacuum Pressing Equipment

I purchased an Ortho-press vacuum press several months ago. I am very happy with the product, but the press is only large enough to do one cast at a time. I would like to press a PAIR of casts at a time, so I'm looking for a second press - similar to the Ortho-press I already have, but without the vacuum pump. The plan being to use the suction generated from my current press, whilst keeping costs down.

Briggate Medical have an "Ortho-Press Slave", but it's over $1100 after GST, for really what is essentially a fancy box. Does anyone know where I can get something similar from in Australia that is a bit cheaper??

Shane,

For someone a little less DIY inclined, such as myself, do you sell them??

Hi there, I managed to get a vacuum pump which became obsolete to a dairy farmer. Ask your dairy farming patients if they have an old one. With some of the computer automated systems, for milking single pumps may become available at a good price.

Following up on this thread, did you have any luck sourcing a cheaper Vacuum Press. We are currently looking for one at the moment.

Camo,

I'm surprised this thread is still alive, I barely remember posting it a year ago!

I ended up buying 2 of the single "Ortho-Press" vacuum presses that Briggate Medical in Melbourne manufacture. Cost be about $3600 all up (inc GST) but I've never had a problem with them, and they are portable as they each have their own dedicated vacuum pumps. I'm pretty happy with them, havn't had any problems with them as yet. I only wish they made one wide enough to actually mould a PAIR at a time. That way I wouldn't have had to buy 2.

You can however buy one vacuum press with a built in pump, and another press without a pump, and piggyback them so the one without a pump is getting suction from the one with. This is a cheaper way of doing it, and you may save around $700, but I chose to buy both with pumps. That way if one needed repairs, I would still be able to mould, at 50% capacity.
