Podiatry board chief delays license class probe
Quote:
LANSING, Mich. The head of Michigan's licensing board for podiatrists caused a five-month delay in a probe of reported fraud in continuing education programs.

Michigan law lets health regulatory board chiefs block investigations.

In October, two officials of the state's podiatric association complained that some foot doctors got continuing education credit without attending classes.

The association says it's unaware of any problems.

State podiatry board Chairman Michael Schey blocked a probe in November but O-K'd it last month.

The officials who complained later lost their jobs and are suing under the Michigan Whistleblowers Protection Act.
