Default 5th digit bleeding....

Podiatry Arena members do not see these ads
Pt. has long term callous ridge, (so far self managed to date) apical 5th digit, pretty typical really, but it has had some minor trauma and fissured I believe, also subject to high humidity/damp on occaision. The central area appears to have granulated up into the fissure and is v. painful, and v. vascular. Attempted to reduce callous as much as poss, but splits and bleeds profusely.Stemmed flow w/ Fer. Chlor. & dressed. Patient fit/healthy, no medication, theatre nurse, late 40s.
Any advice on management/resolving please people?

sounds like she may have developed a small granuloma or other vascular lesion. You can try cautery or just localize it and resect it. You may want to assess the underlying bony irritant and deal with this at the same time.

I have had a few like that.A good coagulant is the nick-be-gone that is used at barber shops.Believe me,it works. It comes in a powder form and apply a little to the bleeding area.
