Thanks Ian, this information is highly ideal for MSc students studying for the theory of podiatric surgery, especially for research methods 1 & 2 and the dissertation. I hope students will find it very usefull.

Mr Nake,

I agree with you that these skills are essential for masters level study and beyond, but would add that there is not a single undergrad or practising clinician that would not benefit from a basic knowledge base of research methods and critical analysis also.

I have also found this book to be pretty good:

How to Read a Paper: The Basics of Evidence-Based Medicine

Although it may be worth waiting to order the 2nd edition due out soon

This link is aimed more at journalists reporting on medical research but still a good read (if only they'd read it before the Kerrigan and Lieberman barefoot articles came out...)
