A Las Vegas podiatrist has been found guilty of 67 counts of health care fraud for billing Medicare for surgeries he never performed.
Doctor Nick T. Nguyen is free pending his sentencing, which is scheduled for July first. He faces a maximum sentence of up to ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Following a six-day trial in federal court, the jury determined Nguyen only rendered routine foot care and did not performed surgeries on ingrown toenails as he said in billing statements to Medicare.

A Las Vegas podiatrist has been sentenced to 33 months in prison for fraudulently billing Medicare for surgeries he never performed.
In March, a federal jury convicted 40-year-old Nick Nguyen of 67 counts of health care fraud.
Authorities say to conceal the scam, Nguyen listed fraudulent diagnosis codes on Medicare claim forms and falsified progress notes to receive the reimbursements from Medicare.
Nguyen, who is free on bail, is scheduled to begin his sentence October fourth.
