Could not agree more bought 1 with the different blade things, tried it out on a couple of patients. Now it sits next the autoclave, I´m guessing will never be used again.

Yes. I have tried ingro-tool marketed by Canonbury. Found it quite effective for mild cases. Patient tolerence seems to be ok too. Jenny
Cool got some of these have not had chance to use them yet. I normally find a pair of fine nippers and a blacks file works but I think these will help. Not happy using a beaver blade (in a non-surgical environment) to do this, with regards PT safety/comfort.
A beaver blade is probably not appropriate for paliation of IGTN, it is designed for a partial nail avulsion/wedge resection- I use a 15 blade .
The use of an ingrown nail tool is not as convienient, as you would need to have it sterile and ready for use at any time, and from what I hear, not as effective.
I use a beaver blade regularly on IGTN's. I used to use a 15 blade but found it caused the sulcus to bleed very easily. And I fiddled around a lot longer with it. I don't go down all the way with the beaver, usually just take out a wedge and it works great. I find it causes less discomfort too. Just my tuppence worth!

I use a beaver blade and/or a 15 blade for OC. Beavers are not specifically designed for Pod use, many surgeons use them, however they are recommended by pod trade companies for OC whether performing Nail Avulsion or conservative tx .
The 15 I use (which was recommended by Steve Wells ) is great for OP too as it is blunt at the apice so less likely to haem the sulci;
