Default Front Desk Smartosft

Hi just wondering how many out there are using the above mentioned software?

I recently had 2 visits to other health professionals were with only a couple of buttons pushed my medicare rebate went straight into my bank account.

Medicare has this available but my latest request has said that FD will not be looking into this.

This is not the medicare rebate that we do through Hicpas, by putting all the details in. This is FD linking through hicaps to medicare for pts rebate after they have paid.

My local branch of medicare said this should be easy and available.

Sorry if this has already been queried as I have been off Arena for awhile.

Do users regularly upgrade? Have you found the upgrades useful?

The latest upgrade suggested using there software for letters and notes rather than microsoft word.

If you then want to use encrupted messaging, this will not be compatable??

Would appreciate your experience.

Cheers

Heather

There is a Medicare system for GPs that allows the GP to make a medicare rebate claim upon the PXs behalf after the bill has been paid. If Medicare have the PX banking details the PX s rebate is paid into the PXs bank account.
My understanding that this is not available to Allied health practitioners.

Smartsoft Frontdesk Over the internet allows you the practitioner to bill DVA. Plus you can also bulk bill medicare for EPCs. Or you can bill medicare your fee and medicare sends a cheque to the PX for the bulk bill rate. The PX then (hopefully) brings you the cheque and the gap payment. The Frontdesk internet option takes just a couple of mouse clicks.

HICAPS
You can also bill DVA Medicare via a HIcaps terminal. This take 20 something button pushes to do and is just a total waste of time in a busy practice.
Hope this helps.

Yes, we use Front Desk and their support/regular software updates. Good value.
The new front desk word package does not print an envelope for the GP/Specialist letter so you still need microsoft word.

We did use another practice management program it was a complete disaster and we had to get rid of it.

Just a warning. There is another practice management software company that will shortly be encripting all patient data.( at next software upgrade) So you cannot change software providers without re keying all your data. Un-encripted data means that your patient data file can be processed by a new provider and loaded directly into the new practice management software. Great help if your current provider goes broke or stops trading.
There is a need fo the Allied health industry to set a software standard before this gets away and multiplies

[quote=Heather J;272501]Hi

Who is using smartsoft out there??

Any issues??

Are you using it to full capacity? EG: have you set up all the templates, clinical notes, sms reminders, letters?

I was discussing this with another Pod today. Thinking that there may be others out there who could use more functions than they do??
What alternatives do you have?

Would appreciate some feedback

Cheers

Heather, yes we use it for online DVA and medicare claims, it is super easy and they provided training. Ours also interfaces with ARGUS for secure letter writing to referring GP's so no posting letters anymore.

We use the sms reminders and also the templates.
We are a small practice with no reception staff so these things make it very easy to process payments and complete EPC/DVA letter requirements.

Edited to add: We use the templates but for encrypted letters, we still use word and it will allow that to work in the templates. It is a bit tricky but the argus and frontdesk guys just did it for us. I make the support staff work for us :)

Do these templates come with the package or do you have to create them yourself?

You create them yourself.
We have things like: Paed Report, EPC report, orthotic quote, pna quote, end of EPC plan etc

It adds in the GP details/pt details etc and you can then add in what you want to say in each part. Often our GP letters now taken under 5 min to do, add in appropriate test results, attach the scan of the doppler and email it through ARGUS to the GP. No paper, I can track they received it and have a copy of that. Easy and makes for medicare compliance in case of dispute.
