You know, I am a recent addition to the board, and have been reading some of the "other boards". Frankly I am apalled at what I have been reading.

There are som e people out there who think that we aren't doctors. other disgruntled podiatrists who think the profession is a "dead end" And still others who believe that routine palliative care is beneath them.

Why don't we all wise up for a few minutes. We provide a valuable service to people who otherwise may not be able to receive it. Each and every day I am thanked, and sometimes even lend a shoulder to cry on. I work 10 -12 hours per day. When I am at the hospitals, I am treated as an equal, not inferior in any way shape or form. Perhaps those disgruntled docs need to quit feeling sorry for themselves, suck it up, and go out there to make rain. (sorry for the metaphors)

All of the complaints I hear about low salaries.....perhaps if you worked a little harder you wouldn't be so bitter.

FINALLY.....I know this is going to meet with a few raised eyebrows, but if we are to survive, we need to QUIT EATING OUR YOUNG. The "old guard" have positioned themselves with an elitest attitude to prevent the younger guys from getting on plans. Some are even advocating ONLY 36 month residency trained pods should have hosptial priveleges. Self serving attitudes such as this do only one thing......Make us look like wannabees.

I have been following those forums for a long time too and they are partly the reason for the exsitence of this one. I have some thoughts...

1. My mum used to talk about those sort of people as being evenly balanced people .... as they seem to have a chip on both shoulders

2. I guess it also comes down to, who is responsible for where YOU are - you can either blame (or praise) yourself or blame everybody else. Everybody else is an easier target for many. (I see both atitudes developing early, already in some students )

3. There are those who look for problems in everything (...they probably also believe that the moon landing was a NASA hoax) and think, for some wierd reasons, that the world owes them.

4. I remember a quote from some research many years ago that talked about the only difference between a successful person and a failed person, was that the successful person has had more failures!!

5. We have had threads here on things like Podiatry in Crisis in the Australia forum .... what some see as a crisis, others (including me) see as an opportunity for the creative and innovative (and hard workers).

... ie its what we make of what we have that counts... but I guess the 'blame game' is a longer term societal trend we are cought up in.

ADMIN....I love your success comes before work only in the dictionary line....
What a great motto. I'm going to add it to my repitoire of sayings!

I guess this "wannabee" better get his tail going at 6:00 am on a holiday saturday morning to see patient in 3 hospitals. I suppose there will be a plethora of other doctors seeing unfortunate people who have to spend a holiday weekend as an inpatient. I kind of like being the smiling face they see in the morning.

Really sucks to be treated as an equal sometimes

Default It Was Wasn't It?

Flame me for this one, but I have to wonder? Why didn't we go back? What did Geroge Lucas do before Star Wars?

There are some really strange photos on some of the sites.

My opinion.....aim the Hubble at the moon and show me something.

Maybe we could do it now, but too cost prohibitive, who knows.
