A bit late in replying to your post. However if you read 'Differences in the performance of commercially available 10g monofilaments' by jodie Booth and Matthew Young, produced in Diabetes Care, Vol23(7), July 2000,pp984-988, you will get answers about reliability. As for affordability there probably isn't a lot between them except with the Owen Mumford Neuropen you also have the option to use the blunt/sharp test.
