When you reply to a message in the forum, below the box you type in is an option for Thread Subscription - to get not notified scroll down to the line that says Instant email notification

If you do not reply to a message, but still want to get an email when someone replies (as the thread topic is of interest to you), open the thread and click on the Thread Tools near the top of the page - click on the Subscribe to this thread, then click Instant email notification
