The Podiatrists Registration Board of Victoria have released their findings in a case of professional misconduct. Unprofessional Conduct Decision(PDF file, so those on a slow dial up connectiom may be waiitng for a while)
The details of the case are well worth reading as they give a strong insight into the workings of the Board, their processes and the issues.
Thanks for posting this Craig. I found it very interesting reading - and surprisingly enough I read all of it. I believe it raises a number of issues about how we function as individuals within a profession, and as a professional body. I think it also shows that some people are like cats - and land on their feet every time.
The Podiatrists Registration Act(Vic) is one which is rarely tested to this extent, and I believe that it is a far more flexible document than previously realised.
But - most of all, the issue of Podiatry Assistants is on the agenda again. The A.Pod.C. has recently released guidelines and Scope of Practice documents. I would be interested in hearing from especially Aussie Pods (in both Private and Public sectors) their views on how Pod Assistants can be integrated into our practice system effectively.

I honestly can not understand how such a major breach in professional conduct can lead to such a minimal penalty
there was reportedly a case (please correct me if I am wrong) where a podiatrist (ie not podiatric surgeon) performed a bunion surgery at his practice, and was also slapped on the wrist. I have also been told by some that as long as you have a lawyer it is extremely difficult to be penalised due to the act is an extremely flexible document
