(a) Podiatrists who hum Aretha Franklin songs while treating people
(b) Podiatrists who demand to be called by their full appellation at all times
(c) or is it a typo - and she really wants to go all hip and '60s and become a retrospect Podiatrist, you know, no gloves, sterilising or whatever
cheers

(sitting on Craig's computer, I'm not really Admin, don't be fooled. Oh yeah, and I'm not really sitting ON his computer, but in front of it - it is on a desk....oh dear, all this information is getting really rather redundant isn't it.......)
I too was a beauty queen although it came as a surprise when I was voted second to the winner in a charity queen competition back in the days when I were a lad. T Rex were top of the charts then. Some of the girls went on to pose demi nude artistic studies for the tabloids ( Sadly I did not get the invitation). The girls then spend a fearful couple of years hoping the pics did not make page three.
CK .... if I can only find that nude picture you sent me of yourself last xmas.....
BTW - I see there was a comment in Barry Block's PM News (that goes to 7000 podiatrists) about this beauty contest. Between PM News' readers and Podiatry Arena visitors voting for her ---- she might win!
Barry Block's PM News is still pushing Podiatrists world wide to vote:

I can find nothing yet on the Times Online website, but Barry Block has reported in PM News:
Quote:
Jenny Wins the Reader's Poll Award
With great support from PM News readers and the podiatric community,
Jennifer Goodwin the New Zealand podiatric student pulled off an
upset victory to narrowly win the Miss Howick Reader's Choice
Award. The overall title went to Kylie Warfield, who will go to the
Miss New Zealand Pageant, and if successful, the Miss Universe
Pageant.
Lisah Henry, Editor of the Times Newspapers noted that Jennifer was
truly thrilled to receive the award. Over 22,000 votes were
tabulated, with Ms. Goodwin receiving nearly 3,500.
Well a big thankyou to all our colleagues around the world who voted for the NZ Podiatry student Jennifer Goodwin in the Miss Howick Beauty Contest.
Jennifer has done fantastically well and we are all very proud of her achievements.
Actually I am secretly relieved because she will be able to concentrate on her studies more this semester. I think the judges saw a very beautiful but also a very intelligent young woman and did not want to take her away from an important career and the big contribution she has to make to the NZ health service as a great Podiatrist.
We know that she could have gone on to win the Miss NZ pagent and in true NZ world beating style win the Miss Universe pagent as well..... but hey, that would have been predictable.
As Oscar Wilde once said "The second worst thing in the world is not getting what you desire. And the worst thing is getting what you desire."
So thanks again to all our friends around the world, do come to the Auckland University of Technology for a visit ( we are very proud of our great school) and to Jennifer a great big 'Well Done' from me and my staff and we look forward to seing you on Monday. I have BIG plans for you !
