Here, Here are there many NZ Pods who Actually Used this forum?

I can tell from the IP addresses, that there are a lot and they are on here regularly (there are 3 on right now) ...just not sure to know what to to to get them posting (maybe we run a NZ competition once the get a member competition has finished).

I love to pop in at least once a day ( seeking councilling for compusive behavior) usually over lunch break.
Very busy at Tauranga hospital at the moment, I was selfish enough to have 3 weeks off over xmas and the work has built up, some of the frequent flyer patients tend to wait till I get back before seeing anyone ( bless em!) and theres no fobbing them off to district nursing.
Hope to get away to New Orleans in Sept to the " the New cardiovascular horizons conference".

We have one in the UK with some 270 members - we ran our first professional develpment meeting last weekend. Great fun, very informative, and best of all, free.

Considering Occupational Overuse Syndrome/Repetitive Strain Injury, get me thinking .................................. (dangerous I know)

How many patients/clients should one expect a Podiatrist to care for or treat in a day?

Remembering we are concerned foot health professionals and we do not want to degrade our profession and moral value of human conduct, these patients could well be our mother, father or relative.

Would like to hear some thoughts on the subject

Hi Carleen I can attest to the fact that 64 patients in a day is too too many, my eyes had ajusted to the focal lengeth and when it came to driving home everything was blurred. But that was the bad old days 25yrs ago in a care institution.

As with any work it depends on the work situation, good patient podiatrist triangle, lighting, equipment etc and what sort of detailed work and how much each patient requires. As we all know some patients are harder work than others and not just from a physical point of view.

In the public health area that I work in I allow 1/2hr for each patient, this will generally allow me the time to treat and write up notes as some take less and others more depending on the complexity. I also have 2 half day non patient contact days as I require time to do staff education, ward rounds and paper work.

At the end of the day you have to balance what needs to be done with what has to be done and in the private sector what it is costing you to deliver that service.

Gidday Carleen! Heard from a new grad in Melbourne yesterday, she is treating 14 pts per day and says its an ok workload. At a rest home for me I do 4-5 per hour, dont like to rush too much, its nice to have a chat with the pts too, but as we women can multi-task......lol.

Was the NZ student entering the Beauty Contest male or female?

One should never jump to conclusions.

I went to the Clinical Biomechanical Boot Camp in Wellington which was great to meet other Podiatrists from around the country and gain a greater understanding of the how and why of orthoses, and what we are all doing. Especially the guide to prescription and other considerations was very helpful and nice to meet Craig Payne, plus the food was great!!

I agree with the lovely Carleen, could have been a bloke? Cause there are sooo many good looking Podiatrists around.
