Podiatry Arena members do not see these ads

Hi, I am looking at purchasing a new Berchtold Callisto Podiatry chair from Briggate and I am hoping that someone may be able to give me their thoughts on whether this chair is a good buy or not? Briggate are claiming that there are 745 of these chairs in use with in Australia at the moment.
If the consensus is "dont buy" does anyone have another chair that they would recommend under $7000?

Ive had one of these chairs in my hospital clinic for about 6yrs now and have been happy with its performance.

Thanks for your response Leigh. I have had 2 bad experiences with chairs now and I am not wanting to spend the money again if I cant end up with a functioning chair!

We have used the Berchtold chairs at work for over 12 months. There have been no mechanical problems.

However, from a patient's viewpoint, the chair sits a fraction too high for shorter, less mobile elderly clients and the base of the seat is a little too narrow and some patients worry that they may fall.

The chairs are also easily moved between rooms if needed.

Overall, they are good chairs, in my experience.

I definitely agree with the last post. If you have enough room, I would consider another chair, that is lower at it's lowest point and on a larger base.
I have a Callisto, and also a much cheaper ABCO chair and would probably go with the ABCO over the Callisto.
I also have to add, I have had no mechanical issues with either.
Have a look at the chair that Algeos have, it seems really good for the money. Also the DBS one looks good too, but is similar price point to Callisto.

I agree with the above- I've used these chairs quite a bit, whilst generally good, particularly at manoevering every which-way, they are a little high for many frail, elderly people. Another issue is that the weight limit on the standard one is ~170kg, which can be limiting!
