Default HICAPS FEES AND CHARGES

Time to review your HICAPS contract folks.

Hicaps have new fees for card transactions.
I was looking at installing a HICAPS terminal at another practice and being able to use Medicare "Easy Claim" with that terminal.
I contacted both HICAPS and Suncorp for a quote.

Suncorp quoted the following
Terminal rental fee $29.00 per month.
Merchant service fee 0.68%
Debit card transaction fee $0.05 per transaction.

HICAPS charge $0.15 per debit card transaction.
Thats an extra $0.10 on each EPC "Medicare Easy claim" for those who do not bulk bill.

Commonwealth bank have one as well which I think is much cheaper than hicaps and often are offering incentives to sign up ..
I think you would need to check if the others ( not hicaps) give a all in one statement ( like hicaps do ) or are the individual private insurers going to send out individual end of month statements . This could lead to quite a bit of extra reception time ! I would be interested to find out ....

Hicaps has got complex now if you look at individual card companies charging individual fees. I must say I have shut my eyes and see each month how much more I'm paying than in the past.
