Do you have/use a practice manual? I have bits & pieces of info. on computer about the basic functions within my practice but realise the need to have it much more organised & combined into a proper manual. Does anyone have any suggestions or places to look to get advice on what to include or how to format something like this properly.

Mark and Jude,

In Australia most public podiatry practices have policy and procedure manuals that include all things necessary to run a service (refferal process, appointment booking, discharge policy, info on infection control, etc.)

Below is the TOC from one where I use to work

1.1 Aims & Objectives
1.2 Organisational Chart
CHAPTER 2: STAFFING AND DIRECTION
2.1 Staff Orientation
CHAPTER 3: POLICIEs AND PROCEDURES
3.1 Instrument Sterilisation
3.2 Instrument Storage
3.3 SPC Stickers
3.2. Waste Management
Contaminated Waste
Uncontaminated Waste
Disposal of Contaminated and Uncontaminated Linen
3.3 Hospital Policy And Procedure For The Disposal Of Sharps
3.4. Guidelines For Referral To Podiatry
3.5. Podiatric Services Provided
3.6. Medical Records
3.7. Appointment Making
3.8. Stores And Supply Ordering
3.9. Statistics
3.10. Photocopying
3.11. Communications
3.12. Time Sheets
3.14. Annual Leave
3.15. Sick Leave
3.16. Accident Procedure
3.17. Department Keys
3.18. Patient Complaints
3.19. Emergency Procedure Manual
CHAPTER 4: STAFF DEVELOPMENT
CHAPTER 5: FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT
5.1 Instrument Inventory
5.2 Equipment Inventory

Yes, I have one, which lives in the clinic at arm's reach at all times. It also lives alongside the A.Pod .A manual, to which one is referred for general stuff. My protocol has all the info that is relevant to my clinic (eg fee schedules, clinic hours, etc) . The only problem is getting staff to read it, so you don't get those constant questions!

Hi. Do you means MIMS? If so, call a local GP clinic & see if they have any old ones.
