WINDSOR, ON, Aug. 22 /CNW/ - Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police,
Anti-Rackets, Health Fraud Investigation Team have charged a podiatrist and a
chiropodist, operating a clinic located in Windsor, with fraud following an
investigation into a complaint that fraudulent claims were being submitted to
the Ontario Health Insurance Plan.
The investigation was initiated following a complaint from the Ministry
of Health and Long-Term Care. The investigation revealed that the accused
submitted approximately $9,000.00 in fraudulent claims to the Ontario Health
Insurance Plan, for foot care, examinations and x-rays from January of 2001 to
December of 2004.
Charged is James HILL, age 35, and Millicent VORKAPICH-HILL, age 39 both
of Windsor, Ontario. They are jointly charged with one count of Fraud Over
$5,000, contrary to the Criminal Code.
HILL and VORKAPICH-HILL are to appear in Ontario Court of Justice, 200
Chatham St. E., Windsor on September 14, 2005.
The Anti-Rackets Health Fraud Investigation Team is a team of OPP
investigators dedicated to investigate on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care allegations of fraud relating to the Ontario Health System.
