As one of Scotlands 6 Society Union Learning Reps I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has ULRs in their trust.

For example do you know who the reps are? have they helped your learning if you don't have ULR's do you think you should?

Cheers

Default ULR's

thought I would bump this up as the society are in the process of setting up networks in the south west & the midlands. It will mean that england & scotland will have full coverage by ULR's. The society are still trying to get funding to proceed in Wales & N.Ireland. The ULR will become a very important figure with the advent of the KSF & HPC reg requirements.

Hi All,

A very important figure with the advent of KSF? & HPC.! God perhaps?

Why am I suspicious that this may be yet another way of 'Control, control, control'?

Regards,

Colin.

PS. Just a little brick today larger one's to follow later!

Hi Anne,

It would be helpful to those reading this thread if you could explain what ULR's are, and their role.

Colin, long time no hear - welcome back!

Regards,
davidh

Default Union learning reps

The Union Learning Rep (ULR) is not there to control anything. The role of the ULR is funded by the Union Learning fund, a governement led inititive to facilitate life long learning, key skills & the professional development needs of union members, such as society members, which is of benefit to them & their practice.

The ULR role is active amongst many Trade Union Congress associates such as National Union of Teachers, National Association of School master & Union of Women Teachers (NASUWT), Unison & the Royal College of Nursing.

The Union Learning rep is also there to provide advice to members with relation to how the Knowledge & skills framework is used & how it is going to alter their working practice. The ULR will also provide advice & guidance on HPC regulation & how to complete the portfolio if audited by the HPC.
