In the navigation bar at the bottom of each page is a link to member map. This is from GoogleMaps and is for Podiatry Arena members to mark where they are from and for others to check where you are from. Its all about building a better sense of community.
We encourage all members to mark their home location on the map.
To add your marker, click on the Add or edit your entry link.
In the Marker Title box, type some sort of welcome message.
Then drag the map, so your location is in the center of the page, then zoom in to find your location. Simply click on where you want the marker to be and it will be added. If you make a mistake, simply click again.
In the Marker Text box, type as much of your address that you are happy to reveal publically. For example, this might be the City, State, Country (eg San Diego, CA, USA).
For now, leave the URL for the image box empty (we had a problem with markers displaying when this was used and have not had a chance to look into it yet)
Click on Insert the Information. Your marker now has to be approved by Podiatry Arena staff (as we don't get an automatic notification of new markers, we have to log in to see it, so it may take up to a day or two to get to it). If your marker does not appear after a few days, then contact us.
After your marker has been approved and added, return to the Add or edit your entry link and scroll down to the 3 boxes under Link to your location and copy the BB code one (the others will not work at Podiatry Arena as html is disabled for most members). Go to edit signature in your UserCP (control panel) and paste the BB code in your signature. This provides a link to your marker on the map page. You can edit the words 'My Location' to any text (within reason) that you like.
It is also highly recommended that after you have posted the BB code into your signature for the My Location that you change the zoom=1 to zoom=6 as this will make it easier for other to see your location on the map
We do hope you make use of this feature to build the Podiatry Arena community.
Any problems, please contact us. |
